Christopher J. Fernandez

Christopher Fernandez is a partner in the firm's Finance practice. He has more than 16 years of experience advising and representing lenders, servicers, and special servicers in a variety of transactions, including workouts, restructurings, foreclosures, and bankruptcies. Chris is experienced in all aspects of loan servicing, general commercial litigation, discovery, e-discovery and bankruptcy litigation. He has successfully argued and tried cases and/or summary judgment motions in state, federal and bankruptcy courts. He has represented lenders and CMBS and CLO loan servicers and special servicers in connection with portfolio and loan-level transactions, cash management structuring, identification and mitigation of bankruptcy risks, defaults, and litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Chris was an associate and counsel at an international law firm for more than six years. He represented CMBS loan servicers and special servicers in connection with transactions, implementation of cash management, defaults, bankruptcy and litigation. From 2005 to 2011, he was an associate in the Charlotte office of an international law firm. In addition, he was an associate in the Charlotte office of a national law firm for more than four years.

Prior to his legal career, Chris served as a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy.

Chris has been named as a 2012 "Legal Elite" in the area of Real Estate by Business North Carolina magazine.
