  • Peter Kalis, Chairman and Global Managing Partner of K&L Gates, was recognized in the August 2013 issue of The American Lawyer magazine as among 50 innovators who have dramatically shaped the global legal industry over the past five decades. Kalis was one of a dozen law firm leaders cited by the magazine as “master strategists” and the publication specifically noted Kalis’ leadership in making K&L Gates the first financially transparent U.S. law firm.
  • In December 2013, Peter Kalis was recognized as one of the legal industry’s most innovative and groundbreaking thinkers with inclusion on The National Law Journal’s inaugural list of the “Top 50 Legal Business Trailblazers & Pioneers.” 
  • In 2013, K&L Gates was selected as “Law Firm of the Year” by Mergers & Acquisitions magazine, as part of its annual M&A Mid-Market Awards. This prestigious award recognized K&L Gates for its strong performance in 2012 and its global approach to middle market mergers and acquisitions, as well the firm's continued growth into new international markets.
  • The National Law Journal recognized K&L Gates among the 20 most accomplished law firms in IP with its inclusion on its 2013 Intellectual Property Hot List.
  •  In 2013, K&L Gates was recognized among the top 20 law firm brands in the world, according to the 2013 Global Elite Brand Index published by legal market research company Acritas. The index ranks global law firms most favored by counsel and most considered for multi-jurisdictional deals and litigation. The firm was also named in 2014 for a third consecutive year among the top 25 law firm brands in the United States according to Acritas’ U.S. Law Firm Brand Index.
  • The 2014 BTI Consulting Group survey of corporate counsel (covering 650 law firms) included the firm in its “BTI Client Service 30” for a second consecutive year.  The Client Service 30 is an elite ranking that recognizes the leading law firms in driving superior client relationships according to general counsel.
  • The firm was named to the BTI Brand Elite 2014: Client Perceptions of the Best Branded Law Firms. In the report, K&L Gates was recognized among top law firm brands, ranking 15th out of nearly 450 firms included in the survey. The “Brand Elite” includes 26 law firms with the biggest imprint on corporate counsel. 
  • In 2014, the firm was named among the top 10 firms for client service in BTI’s “Client Relationship Scorecard.” This "Power Elite" ranking recognizes leading law firms for superior client service according to 500 corporate counsel at prominent companies.
  • The 2014 U.S. News-Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms” survey awarded K&L Gates more than 200 first-tier rankings, including 36 national practice rankings and 169 metropolitan rankings in 18 locations, marking the fourth consecutive year that K&L Gates has been ranked among the top two law firms with the most first-tier rankings, as well as receiving the publication’s national “Law Firm of the Year” distinction for both Securities Regulation and White Collar Criminal Defense Law.
  • In 2013 K&L Gates was ranked by Law360 for a third consecutive year within its "Global 20" as one of the “20 law firms that had the largest global presence and were involved in the biggest, most complex, and most diverse array of cross-border matters.”
  • In The Lawyer Awards 2013, K&L Gates was included among law firms on the shortlist for the publication’s “International Firm of the Year.”
  • The Financial Times noted K&L Gates as a Highly Commended firm in the Business of Law category of its FT Innovative Lawyers U.S. 2013 report for the firm’s “rare level of detail in its year-end financial report.” In addition to the publication citing it as “groundbreaking among its peers,” the disclosure also helped earn K&L Gates a ranking on the publication’s list of the year’s top 40 law firm innovators.
  • Corporate Board Member Magazine, in association with FTI Consulting, Inc., ranked K&L Gates as one of the top 25 law firms in its 2012 list of “America’s Best Corporate Law Firms.” Based on a survey of nearly 2,000 general counsel of U.S. publicly held companies, the rankings focused on those law firms that survey respondents said they would engage in a variety of important legal subject matters.
  • The October 2010 issue of The American Lawyer ranked K&L Gates first among the “Global 100” in the Recession Performance Index, which measures compound annual growth rate from 2007 to 2009 of revenue, revenue per lawyer, profits per partner, and lawyer headcount.
  • The October 2013 issue of The American Lawyer ranked K&L Gates 18th among the “Global 100” in lawyer headcount.
  • The October 2013 issue of The American Lawyer ranked K&L Gates 25th among the “Global 100” in revenues.
  •  In 2011, Legal Business included the firm on the short-list for “US Law Firm of the Year.”
