K&L Gates is committed to affording all attorneys, including future attorneys, opportunities to provide pro bono legal services. The Pittsburgh offices’ Public Interest Fellowship program underscores K&L Gates' and the legal profession's commitment to public service. This public interest fellowship serves as a unique vehicle by which K&L Gates may attract highly qualified summer associates to Pittsburgh to make significant legal service contributions and to gain substantial legal experience within a non-profit agency environment. Fellowship recipients will find that a K&L Gates Fellowship is an impressive credential that will be valued by future employers.

Fellowship Stipend
In 2018, the fellowship recipient will receive a stipend of $1,000/week (less applicable taxes).

Application Process
To be considered for the K&L Gates Public Interest Fellowship, candidates must complete and submit an application. Application guidelines and the application can be downloaded directly from our website or requested from Emily Coon. The application deadline is October 31, 2017. All current second-year and third-year law students are eligible to apply. Subject to the approval of the Board of Directors of The Pittsburgh Foundation, an Advisory Committee recommends the fellowship recipients based on academic merit, demonstrated commitment to public service, other information provided throughout the application process and interviews with the finalist candidates. Family members of Advisory Committee members are not eligible for this fellowship. The Pittsburgh Foundation will notify chosen fellowship recipients of its decision.
