Ms. Lenard is a workplace relations and employment lawyer with extensive experience in advising large and medium private sector companies as well as public sector departments and agencies at both Commonwealth and state level, on relevant employment and workplace issues.

Ms. Lenard provides day-to-day advice to clients across all operational workplace issues employer's face, and assists with the management of difficult workplace situations as they arise, whether that be allegations of discrimination or bullying and harassment, claims of adverse action, management of performance or disciplinary situations. Ms. Lenard also assists clients in organisational restructures and transfer of business in both the private and public sector.

She works closely with her clients to devise and implement industrial and employment strategies, including creating organisational change through enterprise bargaining, challenging union demands and communication and workforce participation. To this end, Ms. Lenard has been forefront in assisting clients drive industry change, particularly through her work in the maritime industry.

Ms. Lenard's public sector experience means she is able to advise government agencies and authorities on all workplace matters including workplace investigations, code of conduct matters, public service legislation, enterprise agreements, the management of ill and injured employees and performance management. She also advises clients on anti-discrimination law, workplace flexibility and equal employment opportunity.

Ms. Lenard's depth of experience in advising both the private sector and government has afforded her unique insight into the design and development of long term employment relations and risk management strategies.
She is a keen advocate of the benefits of workplace training and development and presents regularly to clients on relevant employment and workplace matters.

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Ms. Lenard worked as a specialist in the workplace relations and employment team of a national law firm.

  • Advising NSW government on a range of employment matters relating to code of conduct, termination of employment and assistance with independent contractor analysis, review of employment policies and advice on sham contracting.
  • Provision of strategic advice to a NSW Government agency including developing an industrial relations strategy in the context of a large scale outsourcing project.
  • Acting for an ACT Government agency in an unfair dismissal application before the Fair Work Commission.
  • Providing extensive advice and guidance to principal contractors on the Commonwealth Building Code and Implementation Guidelines, including advising on the building of numerous Commonwealth government funded projects such as Defence HQJOC, Hume Highway upgrade, Centrelink building in Canberra and Brisbane Airport.
  • Advising a range of both public and private sector entities on transition of employment matters, including transfer of business and machinery of government changes, contracting out and insourcing arrangements.
  • Review of actions for government agencies and experience in providing independent and robust investigation assistance.
  • Designing and delivery employment training to major government and private sector clients.
  • Advised and appeared in discrimination proceedings before Australian Human Rights Commission and appeared and instructed before the Fair Work Commission, Federal Circuit Court, Federal Court, Supreme Court and AAT proceedings.
