Mr. Christou has a practice which focuses on telecommunications, technology, outsourcing, data protection and privacy. He advises his clients on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters in this area, including cloud computing agreements, reseller agreements, supply and distribution agreements, IT procurement and carrier access rights.

Before focusing his practice on the technology industry, Mr. Christou advised clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial areas, including mergers and acquisitions involving foreign investment review board approvals and Australian inbound US investment.

He has worked in-house and been seconded to the Australian head office of a global telecommunications client, which has provided him with a unique set of skills, coupled with an invaluable insight into client expectations and the practical application of external legal advice.

Mr. Christou draws on his broad experience to provide strategic, practical and effective legal advice to clients.

Professional Background

Mr. Christou has presented seminars on a range of legal topics. He presented to a global telecommunications client on the competition and other regulatory issues arising from the client's retail distribution models. Mr. Christou has also presented regular seminars on contract law, risk and insurance to the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Australia since 2007.

  • Advising a global telecommunications company on its appointment of an electronic payment agent to distribute and collect payment for prepaid mobile services within Australia.
  • Advising a global telecommunications client on the overhaul of its various agreements with its exclusive distribution network throughout Australia.
  • Advising a telecommunications reseller with the preparation of a template dealer agreement for entry into with its dealers.
  • Advising a global telecommunications client on the Australian implementation and major launch of a new mobile handset into the Australian market including advising on the arrangements required through all levels of the client's supply and distribution model.
  • Advising on the merger of a regional telecommunications company and private equity backed IT company involving foreign investment review board approval.
  • Advising on the acquisition of a Perth based logistics and transport company by a subsidiary of a major listed Australian port operator.
