Mr. Coultas practiced law in Denver and Dallas before being tapped to serve as associate dean of the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University. He was later executive director of the State Bar of Texas and was administrative partner of an Austin law firm for 12 years before joining the firm. Mr. Coultas was managing partner at Hughes and Luce prior to the 2008 combination of K&L Gates and Hughes & Luce. Mr. Coultas has served the profession as trustee and chair of the Texas Bar Foundation, trustee of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism and as a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management. He has also been a council member and finance chair of the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association.
