K&L Gates Launches Groundbreaking On-Demand CLE Center

7 December 2015

Boston - If technology can allow individuals to watch movies whenever and wherever they want from their own computer or mobile device, why shouldn’t the same model be applied to help in-house legal counsel meet the constant and pressing need to earn continuing legal education credits?

Employing best-of-breed new technology, K&L Gates LLP has provided the answer to that challenge with the launch of a first-of-its kind, groundbreaking On-Demand CLE Center — the latest dimension to its already acclaimed HUB digital content platform launched earlier this year.

The robust On-Demand CLE Center contains nearly 50 continuing legal education courses that in-house counsel can access anytime and anywhere, including recordings of previously conducted CLE programs that lawyers may have missed. Designed with busy in-house counsel in mind, HUB’s On-Demand CLE Center currently provides accreditation for CLE and continuing education courses in states throughout the U.S., with additional courses for Europe and Asia Pacific expected in the near future.

“We know that in-house lawyers — our clients — are time-constrained given the important roles they hold in their companies,” said Jeff Berardi, Chief Marketing Officer for K&L Gates. “HUB was designed to offer valuable and relevant content across a variety of industry-based topics to busy in-house counsel. Our new On-Demand CLE Center enables us to continue to deliver on that vision, offering a vast trove of programs that lawyers can easily fit into their individual schedules, from the convenience of their office or even in their own backyard.”

The courses currently available on the site include such topics as social media’s impact on financial services companies, cybersecurity insurance coverage and data breaches, and European Union trademark law reform, among others. Visitors also can view upcoming offerings and search for subject-specific courses.

K&L Gates HUB was launched in February 2015 as the first site for the legal industry that provides content by industry sector, another growing need for in-house counsel. More than 30 different industry sectors are featured on HUB, each with valuable content, relevant news, events, and timely updates for that sector.

In April, HUB earned first place in the Legal Marketing Association’s 2015 “Your Honor Awards” in the law firm website - special section category. Additionally, HUB has been named a finalist in the “Innovation in the Business of Law: Compliance and Technology” category of the 2015 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards - North America, the winner of which will be announced this week.

“Law firm websites typically list information according to the internal structure of their firm, and as a result, clients and other in-house lawyers often need to sift through a lot of information to find legal updates,” said Berardi. “HUB represents a new way to provide information with the needs of in-house counsel as the driving factor. Adding a wealth of continuing legal education courses on HUB was the logical next step to providing even more value to in-house counsel.”

K&L Gates comprises approximately 2,000 lawyers globally who practice in fully integrated offices located on five continents. The firm represents leading multinational corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals.
