Mr. Peterson is a partner in the Raleigh office and focuses his practice on the acquisition, sale, development, financing and leasing of commercial real estate. He has extensive experience with all phases of office, industrial, retail, multi-family and mixed-use development including zoning and entitlement matters.

His clients include corporations, real estate funds, insurance companies, real estate investment trusts and private developers. Mr. Peterson served as the managing partner of the Raleigh office of Kennedy Covington from 1995 until 2005 prior to its merger with K&L Gates.

  • Represented a national developer in all aspects of the acquisition, redevelopment and disposition of a multi-block, historic area in downtown Raleigh, including representation before local and state agencies to secure entitlements and permitting approvals for the mixed-use project.
  • Represented a national investment fund in connection with real estate development projects in several states including the acquisition and entitlement of a 1,300 acre mixed-use project at the North Carolina coast and a 1,000 acre residential project near Asheville.
  • Represented a national investment fund in the acquisition of a 560 acre residential project located in South Carolina and North Carolina.
  • Represented a global pharmaceutical company with the acquisition of pharmaceutical facilities in Cleveland.
  • Represented a global biotechnology company with acquisitions, dispositions and leasing of land and facilities in multiple states.
  • Represented a private developer in the acquisition of approximately 22,000 acres in eastern North Carolina, including contract negotiations, due diligence, and assistance with the investment structure for the client.
  • Served as counsel to state port authority on real estate, development, public/private matters, and the preparation and negotiation of the master feasibility agreement and the concession/development agreement for a new terminal facility.
