Allen Bachman is a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He advises clients on all aspects of antitrust law, representing companies in merger clearance proceedings and other investigations conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division and Federal Trade Commission, as well as in high-stakes antitrust litigation. He also regularly counsels clients regarding the impact of the antitrust laws on their day-to-day business activities, such as standard setting, compliance programs and audits, sales and marketing practices, and licensing, royalty, and settlement agreements.

In addition to his antitrust practice, Mr. Bachman also represents clients in other complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, as well as arbitration proceedings.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Bachman was a commercial litigation and antitrust partner at another Washington, D.C. law firm. Before he began practicing law, he served as an economic analyst for the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division.

  • Representing one of the United States’ largest automotive parts companies before the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division regarding an investigation into one of the company’s recent consummated transactions
  • Representing a major international pharmaceutical company before the Federal Trade Commission seeking approval to buy what will likely be the largest number of generic drugs ever divested pursuant to an FTC Consent order
  • Advisor to a major internet domain registry company regarding compliance with the United States’ and international competition laws
  • Successfully dismissed abuse of standard setting and other Sherman Act Section I claims made against one of the United States’ largest non-profits
