Chris Wyant is a partner in the firm's Seattle office. His practice concentrates on complex business and antitrust litigation and antitrust counseling.

Mr. Wyant has experience in all phases of litigation and has successfully taken several cases through trial. He also has extensive mediation and arbitration experience. Mr. Wyant’s business litigation practice focuses on local, national and international cases involving contract claims, fiduciary duties, merger and acquisition disputes, investment banking, and debtor/creditor claims.

Mr. Wyant also has wide-ranging experience litigating antitrust claims. He has represented defendants in multi-district price fixing cases brought by class plaintiffs, direct-action plaintiffs, and Attorneys General. Mr. Wyant has also represented both plaintiffs and defendants in monopolization cases involving alleged refusals to deal, tying, and exclusive dealing arrangements. He has represented standard-setting organizations, product manufacturers and cellular network operators in antitrust matters related to FRAND commitments for intellectual property and alleged abuses of the standard-setting processes. Mr. Wyant represents clients in responding to pre-litigation antitrust investigations by the United States Department of Justice and Washington Attorney General.

In addition to litigation, Mr. Wyant regularly counsels clients on antitrust and competition law compliance. He has advised clients on antitrust matters during merger negotiations, diligence and pre-closing integration planning. He also counsels clients regarding antitrust considerations associated with product distribution, sales agreements, technology licensing arrangements, and pharmaceutical joint ventures. Mr. Wyant has drafted antitrust policies and provided antitrust training for entities in a wide range of industries.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Wyant served as a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas S. Zilly, United States District Court for the Western District of Washington (2005-2006) and Justice Susan Owens, Washington State Supreme Court (2004-2005).

  • Mr. Wyant has been a member of the Washington State Bar Association Consumer Protection and Unfair Business Practices Section Executive Committee since 2010. He served as the Chair of the Executive Committee from 2017-2018 and Secretary from 2015-2016.

Antitrust Litigation Experience
  • Represented technology product manufacturer in action alleging antitrust violations related to standard-setting commitments and unlawful tying. In re Qualcomm Litigation, Case No. 17-00108 (S.D. Cal.)
  • Represented standard-setting organization against claims alleging a Sherman Act Section 1 violation relating to intellectual property licensing. Bandspeed, Inc. v. Acer, Inc., et al., Case No. 10-00215 (E.D. Tex.)
  • Represented a large Taiwanese TFT-LCD panel manufacturer in a price-fixing criminal investigation in the United States and follow-on civil litigation by direct- and indirect-purchaser classes, individual purchasers, and state Attorneys General in various federal and state courts. In re TFT-LCD (Flat Panel) Antitrust Litigation, Case No. 07-01827 (N.D. Cal.)
  • Represented national after-market auto parts manufacturer and obtained dismissal of claims for restraint of trade, monopolization, attempted monopolization and refusal to deal. Randy’s Ring & Pinion Service, Inc. v. Eaton Corporation, Case No. 09-0637 (W.D. Wash.)
  • Represented physician in litigation involving claims for monopolization and unfair competition. Witham v. Clallam County Public Hospital District 2, Case No. 09-5410 (W.D. Wash.)
  • Represented cellular network operator and provided counselling regarding antitrust compliance matters for merger transactions (2012-2013, 2015, 2017-2019)
Business Litigation Experience
  • Represented engineering company in case involving over $30 million in claims related to asset sale.
  • Represented publicly-traded furniture company against contract and statutory claims asserted by regional retailer in the Western District of Washington.
  • Represented publicly-traded manufacturing company against supplier’s claims for damages arising from rejected goods in Kitsap County Superior Court.
  • Represented Seattle technology company in multi-million dollar breach of contract action in King County Superior Court.
  • Represented regional investment bank relating to claims in several arbitration proceedings.
Creditor/Debtor Litigation Experience
  • Represented several investment funds with respect to investments in, or affected by, Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, LLC in litigation the Southern District of New York.
  • Represented group of defrauded investors in In Re Bayou Group, LLC in bankruptcy court in the Southern District of New York. Investors recovered monies and judgments in excess of $85 million.
  • Represented trustee for Seattle-based real estate funds in multi-million dollar fraud/Ponzi-scheme bankruptcy case.
  • Represented regional lender in Western District of Washington against California borrower and guarantors, resulting in judgment in excess of $14 million.
