Joon Kim is an associate in the firm’s Seattle office. He focuses his practice on real estate matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, financing, construction and development.

Mr. Kim’s practice also includes land use and zoning matters. He has appeared before, and successfully obtained discretionary approvals (e.g., rezoning, special permit, zoning text amendment) from numerous governmental agencies in connection with large ground-up and redevelopment projects.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Kim was a real estate associate at another Seattle law firm, and prior to that, was a real estate associate at a national firm in New York City.

  • Successfully represented an investment group in securing discretionary approvals for the redevelopment of a former armory building in Bronx, NY.
  • Obtained numerous approvals for a large development project in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY.
  • Negotiated transfers of development rights in dozens of transactions.
  • Represents lenders and real estate investment/development firms with land use/zoning due diligence.
