Stefanie Lacy is a mid-level associate in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. Ms. Lacy’s practice concentrates on complex commercial litigation, class action defense, and government enforcement actions (defense, investigations, and compliance). Ms. Lacy has extensive experience managing and litigating multiple class actions including leading and managing both class-based and merits-based discovery, retaining and vetting experts, reviewing expert reports, as well as briefing and litigating class certification issues. Ms. Lacy has broad commercial litigation experience including experience managing, leading, and coordinating complex E-discovery matters, preparing witnesses for deposition and trial testimony, taking and defending depositions, drafting briefs and motions, and conducting opening argument, direct examination, and cross examination as co-lead counsel at a jury trial.

Ms. Lacy’s complex commercial litigation and class action defense experience includes, but is not limited to, handling toxic tort, product liability, intellectual property, trade secret, false advertising, contract, public nuisance, negligence, and personal injury claims in various jurisdictions for clients in diverse industries including sports entertainment, specialty metals, locomotive/rail, non-profit, and financial.

Ms. Lacy’s government enforcement experience includes, but is not limited to, handling cases involving the Bank Secrecy Act (“BSA”), anti-money laundering (“AML”) laws, forfeiture statutes, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”), telemarketing laws, and the Defend Trade Secrets Act ("DTSA") for clients in diverse industries including financial, locomotive/rail, and non-profit.

Professional Background

Ms. Lacy was a summer associate at K&L Gates Pittsburgh office in 2012. During law school, she served as a teaching assistant for mergers and acquisitions and was an Articles Editor for Michigan State International Law Review. She worked at the Great Lakes First Amendment Legal Clinic during her second year of law school and was a member of her law school’s mediation competition team.
