Ms. Clancy concentrates her practice in complex technology litigation including patent, trade secret, and technology transaction litigation and counsels clients on issues concerning cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection. She has served as the lead counsel for numerous technology companies, including those in the fields of networking hardware and software, security and control systems, chemical compositions, nutritional supplements, heat transfer equipment, medical devices, ion implantation systems, and packaging. She has significant experience in all stages of litigation and has led cases to verdict in jury trials as well as bench trials. She is a partner in the intellectual property litigation practice where she shares global responsibility for the firm’s IP litigation resources and strategy.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Clancy worked for the Procter & Gamble Manufacturing Company first as an engineer designing capital projects in the papermaking division and then as a business manager responsible for managing the people, pay, production, and profits in the industrial chemicals division. She has design and on the ground experience in mechanical and chemical manufacturing processes and information management systems.

As an experienced counsel to technology companies with the background of working in a multinational corporation, Ms. Clancy knows how to leverage litigation, privacy, and security issues to meet business goals.

  • Represented Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), one of the world's leading agricultural processors, in a two week jury trial in the N.D.N.Y. on chemical de-icers and obtained defense verdict of no infringement.
  • Represented ADM in a patent infringement action in the D.N.J. concerning its isoflavone technology and obtained entry of a consent judgment that ADM’s patents were valid and infringed.
  • Represented ADM against a global company defending an infringement action in the N.D. Ill. concerning astaxanthin feed products. Obtained favorable settlement prior to trial.
  • Represented ADM in a patent infringement action in the D. Kan. concerning its Kansas Diamond® White Whole Wheat Flour.
  • Represented RiverBank in a trademark infringement action concerning its name in the D. Mass. and obtained summary judgment of no infringement.
  • Represented Aerofin Corp., a leading manufacturer of heat transfer equipment, in a patent infringement action in the D. Conn. and obtained settlement after favorable summary judgment on invalidity.
  • Represented National Fire Protection Association in a copyright infringement action in the N.D. Ill. and obtained favorable settlement with a payment made by plaintiff to K&L Gates’ client.
  • Represented Shurtape, a leading tape manufacturer, in a patent and trademark infringement action in the W.D.N.C. concerning its FrogTape® painter’s tape. The case settled favorably prior to trial.
  • Represented GT Advanced Technologies, a technology company producing advanced materials for the global solar, LED, and electronics industries, in a trade secret action concerning polysilicon production equipment in the D.N.H. The case settled favorably prior to trial.
  • Represented Portola Packaging, Inc., a leading producer of tamper-evident packaging, in a patent infringement action in the W.D. Pa. The case settled prior to trial with favorable terms to Portola.
  • Represented innovative recycling manufacturing company in various technology agreement negotiations, patent litigation and prosecution matters, and licensing issues.
  • Counseled diverse software company on various privacy and security issues including notification requirements.
  • Counseled leading manufacturer on privacy issues relating to vendor agreements.
