Mr. Tomohiro Kitada is a counsel in firm’s Tokyo office and a member of the banking & asset finance practice group with a focus on corporate finance transactions and financial regulation.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Kitada worked for almost a decade in Tokyo with an American worldwide financial institution as a managing director and managing counsel, where he was responsible for overseeing their banking, Japanese trust (including real estate trust and receivables trust), and global custody businesses, collateral management services, and secured finance and securitization transactions, as well as all varieties of corporate, governance, licensing, and regulatory matters. Mr. Kitada also spent 7 years working on corporate, finance and real estate transactions (including securitization of various assets, mergers & acquisitions, sale, purchase and lease of real estates, and general corporate) in private practice in Tokyo. As a private practitioner, he was seconded to the Inspection Division of Japanese Financial Services Agency, where he was engaged in the inspections of Japanese mega-banks and trust banks and gained substantial insight into the Japanese regulator’s inner-workings.

Mr. Kitada received his Bachelor of Law from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law. He is also qualified as a bengoshi lawyer in Japan.
