Mr. Cottle practices in the areas of commercial and consumer products litigation and personal injury defense. His principal areas of practice involve toxic and environmental tort claims that are pending in complex multi-district jurisdictions, arising from alleged exposures to hazards from industrial machinery and equipment or premises. His clients have included manufacturers and suppliers of industrial machinery and equipment, electrical equipment manufacturers and premises owners, such as oil refineries, chemical plants and other industrial facilities.

Mr. Cottle frequently serves as national counsel for clients facing mass tort and personal injury claims that are pending in jurisdictions throughout the United States and has significant experience implementing national defense and risk management strategies in mass tort claims. As lead trial counsel, he has tried a number of cases to verdict in various states and federal jurisdictions.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Cottle was a partner at a Pittsburgh law firm where he represented clients in areas of civil rights and employment law, medical malpractice, environmental claims, and commercial and consumer products matters. He has tried several matters to verdict and has briefed and argued matters before state and federal courts of appeals.
