Pittsburgh - K&L Gates LLP has again been ranked by legal news outlet Law360 as one of “the 20 law firms that had the largest global presence and were involved in the biggest, most complex and most diverse array of cross-border matters” in the publication’s third annual “Global 20” survey announced today. Law360 has recognized K&L Gates on its list of leading law firms each year since the survey’s inception in 2011. Firms are selected for the list based on their global experience and capabilities. Citing K&L Gates among firms that “have made significant strides overseas in the past few years,” the publication notes that “since 2010, K&L Gates has added offices in Moscow; Brussels; Sao Paulo; Qatar; Tokyo; and Seoul, South Korea and surpassed the $1 billion revenue barrier. This January, the firm completed its merger with Australian law firm Middletons, adding about 300 lawyers and four new foreign offices.”
The “Global 20” recognition follows a particularly eventful year for K&L Gates, during which the firm expanded to a fifth continent by combining with Australian national firm Middletons, giving K&L Gates the largest integrated presence in the Asia Pacific region among U.S.-based law firms with 400 lawyers; added seven offices (Seoul, Houston, and Wilmington, as well as the four through the Middletons combination); became the first financially transparent U.S. law firm with the release of its 2012 financial results (described by The New York Times as “groundbreaking”); and obtained the largest jury verdict of 2012. In addition, the firm has been honored on both The National Law Journal’s IP Hot List and as M&A Law Firm of the Year for the Mid-Market by Mergers & Acquisitions magazine.
K&L Gates practices out of 48 fully integrated offices located in the United States, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and South America and represents leading global corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals.
