Hal Gibson is a patent attorney who provides his unique experience to patent prosecution, due diligence, freedom to operate analysis, portfolio management, and developing foreign filing strategies related to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, analytical equipment, consumer goods, and bioprocess systems. He also has vast experience in design patents and trademarks. Mr. Gibson serves clients of all sizes from sole inventors to multi-national corporations.

With a BS degree in Cellular Biology (Chemistry minor) from California State University San Marcos, Mr. Gibson can provide a unique approach to intellectual property law. During his time at CSUSM, Mr. Gibson performed extensive research into “shock proteins” under the direction of Dr. Jose Mendoza. Mr. Gibson is a published author in the field of Patent Law, and a decorated U.S. Marine veteran.

Mr. Gibson is a member of the Orange County Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Third Marine Division Association, and the Newport Harbor American Legion.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Gibson served as patent attorney at a health care company in Irvine, CA. He has experience preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications relating to neurotoxins, including purification, formulation, and methods of use.
