Inga is a senior associate in the Construction and Engineering practice group. She deals with both contentious and non-contentious work. Her practice focuses on UK and international transport, energy and infrastructure projects, and she regularly advises both public and private sector clients on procurement strategy and contractual arrangements. She has considerable experience with the main industry standard forms, with a particular focus on the New Engineering Contract and FIDIC forms of contract. Inga also acts for developer, institutional investor, contractor, and consultant clients on real estate development work advising on construction-related matters, and competition law as it relates to the construction industry.

Professional Background

Inga qualified as a lawyer in Australia in 1997. She has previously worked at a major Australian law firm. She joined the firm in 1999 and cross-qualified in the UK in 2000.

  • Advising in relation to a £700 million five-year term agreement for track-replacement and maintenance works, involving preparation of an over-arching single-provider framework contract with contracts based on the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract 
  • Successfully defending a transport client in a £37m adjudication regarding delay and disruption claims 
  • Acting for an employer in the procurement and construction of a biomass energy plant in the UK and negotiation of FIDIC Red and Yellow Book contracts for use with the construction contractor and various equipment suppliers. Advising on the potential use of the FIDIC Green Book (short form) and drafted bespoke consultancy agreements consistent with the White Book provisions 
  • Advising on a major mixed use project in Sri Lanka including 5 star hotel, residential, commercial and retail units using the FIDIC Red Book and associated White Book, subconsultants' appointments and subcontracts 
  • Acting for an international energy company client on the construction of a bio-ethanol plant in Mozambique, including the negotiation of Red, Yellow and White Book contracts and appointments
    • Advising a cement manufacturer client on issues arising through the course of a cement works in Ewekoro, Nigeria. Advising on bespoke on-and off-shore supply contracts and construction contracts based on FIDIC contracts
  • Acting for Arena Leisure in relation to the re-development of Doncaster and Lingfield Park Racecourses 
  • Advising a major construction client on the construction aspects of the due diligence for its purchase of an engineering business 
  • Advising on £13 million office fit-out contract and associated consultants' appointments and collateral warranties for iconic new City development 
  • Acting for international property developer in negotiation of development management agreement 
  • Drafting and implementing competition law compliance programmes for construction clients 
  • Advising property developer client on terms of fit out licence and negotiating terms of lift installation contract 
  • Drafting of and amendments to numerous framework agreements, call-off contracts and consultancy agreements 
  • Acting for a mechanical and electrical sub-contractor in a multi-million pound arbitration arising out of construction of a power station in Cumbria 
  • Acting for a major cement producer in adjudications in respect of contractors' claims on a cement plant project in Nigeria
