Ivan Ascott is a staff lawyer in the e-discovery analysis and technology (e-DAT) group. Mr. Ascott manages large and complex e-discovery and litigation projects. He has substantial experience in all phases of electronic discovery. His representative casework includes a variety of complex matters, including antitrust, patent, and construction litigation, as well as responding to sensitive public records act requests.

Professional Background

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Ascott worked in purchasing and transportation logistics in the chemical and coffee industries. He is a licensed US Customs Broker. Before joining K&L Gates, he was a law clerk for Starbucks Coffee Company.

  • Manage ongoing electronic document review and productions for multiple patent litigation matters on behalf of a pharmaceutical manufacturer.
  • Managed all phases of discovery responses and trial support for a government client for major public works construction litigation matters, both as a plaintiff and a defendant. The most recent outcome resulted in $26 million settlement for our client.
  • Responded to multiple third-party discovery requests made of a mobile phone manufacturer for antitrust lawsuits brought by the FTC, competitors, and class-action plaintiffs.
  • Responded to multiple public records act requests, including privilege reviews of highly sensitive documents, on behalf of government clients.
  • Part of a team that provided support for a six month antitrust trial that resulted in a successful $20 million jury verdict for an independent provider of maintenance services for telephone equipment.
  • Managed collections and document review for an oil spill case that secured a $255 million arbitration award for our client.
