Mr. Tipple is a commercial litigator with more than seven years' experience in complex disputes and has a current practice focused on professional indemnity litigation.

Mr. Tipple is passionate about providing strategic and sound legal advice to his clients to help them achieve commercially sensible outcomes so that they can get on with operating and growing their business. He advises solicitors' professional indemnity insurers in relation to litigated and non-litigated disputes, primarily in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

Mr. Tipple has experience in, and knowledge of, appropriate alternative dispute resolution options, including mediation and court ordered conciliation.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Tipple was a senior associate at a large national law firm where he practiced primarily in commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He also has a depth of experience in commissions of inquiry and regulatory investigations.

  • Advised professional indemnity insurer in relation to claim brought against law firm who was the target of a cyber-attack, which lead to the firm paying substantial funds from their client's trust account to fraudsters. The dispute raised complex considerations of third party assistance in breach of trust, breach of fiduciary duty and negligence.
  • Advised directors of a large national infrastructure company in relation to insolvent trading and misleading and deceptive conduct claims resulting in alleged losses exceeding AUD55 million.
  • Defended claims brought by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) against a mining industry corporation and its directors for alleged cartel conduct and breach of directors duties.
  • Advised on and successfully litigated an application to overcome Public Interest Immunity asserted by the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet.
  • Advised various individuals in relation to private and public examinations conducted by the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
