Jake Morrison is a litigator who concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation. Mr. Morrison has assisted in the representation of clients in both state and federal court. His litigation experience includes drafting dispositive motions and appellate briefs, deposing expert witnesses, and conducting complex legal and factual research.

Mr. Morrison has worked on a wide variety of litigation matters, including cases involving contract, business tort, bankruptcy, insurance coverage, government enforcement, and mass tort/products liability issues. In particular, he has significant experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving the alleged misappropriation of trade secrets and tortious interference with contractual relations. Additionally, Mr. Morrison has assisted in advising government clients on potential First Amendment constitutional issues and private sector clients on compliance with both FCC and NHTSA regulations.

Mr. Morrison also maintains an active pro bono practice. Specifically, he has represented clients seeking final Protection From Abuse (“PFA”) orders and expungement of juvenile criminal records.

Professional Background

Mr. Morrison was a summer associate in the firm’s Pittsburgh office in 2015.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Morrison was a legal intern for the Allegheny County Public Defender’s Office. In that capacity, he drafted appellate briefs and substantive motions, and represented clients at preliminary hearings in Pittsburgh Municipal Court as a certified legal intern. He previously worked as a legislative intern for the Offices of Virginia state senators Chap Petersen in 2012 and Toddy Puller in 2013.

During law school, Mr. Morrison was a member of the Pitt Law Mock Trial team and Moot Court Board, and traveled to compete at various mock trial competitions across the country. In his third year of law school, he finished in first place in Pitt Law’s Murray S. Love Trial Moot Court competition. Prior to law school, Mr. Morrison was a four-year member of the University of Richmond’s undergraduate Mock Trial Team, and was named an “All Region” attorney during his junior year.
