Mr. Richey maintains an active and broad litigation and arbitration practice in which he strives to favorably resolve disputes for his clients in a cost effective manner. Mr. Richey concentrates his practice in the areas of construction, real estate and commercial law. He has worked on disputes and contracts involving multi-million dollar construction projects (steel, oil and gas (including marcellus shale disputes), material handling systems, petrochemical, methane, LNG, polypropylene, polyethylene (low and high density), wind farm, solar, transportation (rail, road and air), power generation (including coal fired power plants), health care, civil construction, airports, sewage treatment plants and underground sewer/water lines) located throughout the United States (including Puerto Rico) as well as in Qatar, United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi), Brazil, Dominican Republic, Chile, Saudi Arabia, Czech Republic, Nigeria and Egypt. He also drafts construction contracts for his clients involved in numerous industries. Mr. Richey also has extensive experience representing clients in real estate litigations, including matters involving mechanics liens, takings, nuisance/trespass, due process, zoning, right of first refusal, adverse possession, and right-of-ways. Finally, Mr. Richey’s experience in commercial litigation has occurred through his work in representing the World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., PPG Industries, Inc. and other commercial clients. This work has involved dealing with breach of contract, Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code (sale of goods), bid protest (including bid protests in Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Oregon and Louisiana), civil rights, tort, consumer protection act, employment, defamation and wrongful death claims.

Over the past decade, Mr. Richey has represented the firm’s clients in numerous federal and state court trials and appeals as well as domestic (AAA) and international (ICC) arbitrations. In this capacity, Mr. Richey has developed and executed both proactive and defensive litigation strategies in response to a variety of novel and substantial claims for some of the firm’s largest clients. Mr. Richey also acts as an arbitrator in AAA arbitrations.

Mr. Richey is a partner in the firm’s Pittsburgh office and has been associated with K&L Gates since 1996.
