John Joseph “J.J.” Ogilby III is an associate in the firm’s Miami office. He is a member of the corporate/M&A practice group. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets as well as general corporate law matters and commercial agreements. Mr. Ogilby also has experience advising clients on compliance with the regulations promulgated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and with federal securities laws.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ogilby served as an associate at one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service law firms where he focused his practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and general corporate matters. Before becoming a lawyer, he interned in the office of the general counsel of a publicly traded, multinational corporation and for a U.S. senator.

  • Represented a private equity client in its purchase of intellectual property assets worth $250 million located in both the United States and Europe
  • Represented owners of a national franchise with an enterprise value of $550 million in their sale to a private equity group
  • Represented a client in acquisitions of minority ownership interest in registered investment advisory firms for a combined $60 million

  • Represented a software company in its sale to a strategic buyer for $170 million

  • Advised clients with respect to compliance with OFAC regulations concerning business operations in Cuba, banking operations in Venezuela and the sale of aircraft equipment in Iran
