Prior to joining K&L Gates, Ms. Khomenko was a tax consultant within a mid sized chartered accounting firm, having previously worked within the Corporate Tax department of a top tier accounting firm and the specialist tax division of a listed financial services firm.

  • Member of the Law Society of New South Wales
  • Advising on international tax and general structuring issues relevant to multinational groups including transfer pricing, CFC rules, consolidation and availability of CGT roll-overs.
  • Advised on a sale of business which involved comparative analysis of potential tax outcomes depending on the structuring of the transaction, including calculations to assist the client in choosing the most appropriate option. The advice covered the tax treatment of employee share schemes, timing of income derivation, various capital gains tax concessions and payroll tax implications of the transaction.
  • Liaised with the Australian Taxation Office and assisted clients with unusual circumstances with the preparation of disclosures. This required analysis of complex overseas structures, as well as advice on the tax issues surrounding residency of companies and trusts and attribution of offshore income.
