Ms. Nelson is a partner in the firm's Charlotte office. Her practice is focused on commercial real estate, with an emphasis on real estate finance, acquisition and disposition. She regularly represents financial institutions in connection with workout of non-performing credit facilities, restructuring, foreclosure and enforcement of creditor’s rights in connection with distressed real estate assets. She has had significant experience in construction lending, mezzanine financing and defeasance transactions. She has also represented borrowers in mortgage loan transactions. Ms. Nelson has substantial experience involving acquisitions, dispositions, sale/leaseback transactions and development.
Ms. Nelson is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED-AP), a distinction she earned through the Green Building Certification Institute. As a LEED-AP, she has demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles, as well as the LEED Rating System.
Prior to joining K&L Gates, Ms. Nelson was an associate in the real estate and finance group of a large Chicago-based law firm.
