Katherine Hill is an associate in the firm's Seattle office and is a member of the tax practice group. Katherine focuses her practice on state and local tax planning, legislation and policy, compliance, and controversy matters. She has represented clients in tax appeals before the Appeals Division of the Washington Department of Revenue and the Board of Tax Appeals. She has also helped clients achieve successful results through tax planning, audit support, and tax refund claims. Her experience includes advising clients with respect to sales and use, gross receipts, leasehold excise tax, real estate excise, net income, and public utility taxes. She serves clients in a range of industries including software, construction, manufacturing, energy, telecommunications, retail, health care, and financial services.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Katherine was a Senior Tax Consultant at KPMG LLP’s State and Local Tax practice in Seattle, Washington and in Portland, Oregon. During law school, she served as a Judicial Extern at the Oregon Tax Court and worked for the Washington State Attorney General’s Office and the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
