Keiji Isaji is a partner in the firm’s Tokyo office. Mr. Isaji specializes in civil, commercial and criminal litigations (such as finance, media, aviation, political law and white-collar matters). He also focuses on aircraft, real estate and other asset finance and securities; banking and regulatory matters relating to the Japanese Banking Law; the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law of Japan; and similar regulations. This includes resolution of disputes with the governmental authority concerning such regulatory matters and advising on a variety of legal issues (such as license applications) involving foreign funds.

  • Member of Board of Fukuchi High School (1997-2010) and Nara Information and Accounting High School (1998-2010)
  • Represented Japan Airlines in its US leveraged transactions "FSC" involving 5 aircraft in 1991 through 1993
  • Acted as a defense attorney for airlines in various aircraft accident litigations (such as China Airlines Nagoya Airport Accident in 1994 and Garuda Airlines Fukuoka Airport Accident in 1996)
  • Acted as a defense attorney for a statesman's secretary in his criminal case of violation of the Political Fund Restriction Law of Japan (2008-)
  • Acted as an offence attorney for a statesman in his libel action against a weekly magazine company (2005-2007)
  • Acted as a general counsel for Citibank Japan legal department on a secondment basis (2004-2006)
  • Acted as a defense attorney for a Japan Airlines pilot in his criminal case concerning an accident near Nagoya in 1997 (2002-2006)
