Mr. Isaji is a partner in the firm’s Tokyo office. He specializes in civil, commercial and criminal litigations, including finance, media, aviation, IP, political law and white-collar matters (such as violation of the anti-trust laws and the Political Fund Restriction Law). He also focuses on banking and regulatory matters relating to the Banking Law; the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law of Japan; and similar regulations. This includes resolution of disputes with the governmental authority, concerning such regulatory matters and advising on a variety of legal issues (such as license applications) involving foreign funds.

  • Acted as a defense attorney for airlines in various aircraft accident litigations (such as China Airlines Nagoya Airport Accident and Garuda Airlines Fukuoka Airport Accident). 
  • Acted as an offence attorney for a statesman in his libel action against a weekly magazine company. 
  • Acted as a general counsel for Citibank Japan legal department on a secondment basis. 
  • Acted as a defense attorney for a Japan Airlines pilot in his criminal case concerning an accident near Nagoya in 1997 and acted as a defense attorney for a statesman's secretary in his criminal case of violation of the Political Fund Restriction Law of Japan.
