Kenneth Freeling is a partner in K&L Gates’ Doha office. Mr. Freeling is a seasoned legal advisor, with years of experience litigating and trying a broad range of cases, from antitrust matters and complex commercial cases involving financial institutions and other major industries to patent litigation and other high technology disputes before federal, state, and international courts, as well as arbitration panels.

Since 2008, Mr. Freeling has represented the interests of prominent Qatari public and private companies and individuals in Qatar and around the world as well as major multinational companies doing business in Qatar. Mr. Freeling was the founding managing partner of the Doha office of another prominent international law firm before joining K&L Gates in March 2011. Examples of Mr. Freeling’s experience in Qatar include:

  • The successful defense of multibillion dollar Indonesian antitrust cellular class action litigation followed by the acquisition by a leading Qatari telecommunications company of a controlling interest in a major Indonesian telecommunications company.
  • The recovery of nearly $500 million on behalf of certain prominent Qatari interests in connection with certain hedge fund investments.
  • The recovery of several million dollars for a distinguished Qatari finance company arising out of a highly publicized ponzi scheme.
  • The successful resolution of EPC construction and other commercial disputes in the oil and gas, highway construction, office tower, and commercial sectors.
  • The formation of joint ventures between Qatari entities and major multinational companies in the financial services, construction, facilities maintenance, and retail sectors.
  • Service, on an ongoing basis to several Qatari firms, in the capacity of external general counsel.
  • The provision of intellectual property law advice and counsel to a number of Qatari entities.
  • The provision of advice and counsel in the fields of telecommunications and antitrust law and regulation on an ongoing basis.
