A trial attorney and federal prosecutor with the SEC and the U.S. Department of Justice for nearly 30 years, Korotash has led many of the government’s notable efforts to investigate and litigate violations of federal securities laws, political corruption, health care fraud, racketeering, and tax and mail/wire fraud. Under his leadership, the SEC launched a number of significant actions involving insider trading, accounting fraud, and offering fraud cases, including the $8 billion alleged Ponzi scheme by Robert Allen Stanford.
Prior to becoming Associate Director, Korotash served as Chief Trial Attorney in the SEC’s Fort Worth office and as Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel in the SEC’s home office in Washington, D.C. In these positions, he was distinguished by his handling of cases involving Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations, insider trading, and investment adviser and broker-dealer fraud. Additionally, he was appointed as a special federal prosecutor in numerous securities fraud proceedings, including the nation’s first internet-related securities fraud case.
Earlier in his career, Korotash was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Oklahoma, where he focused on fraud and political corruption investigations. In Washington, he also served as the Congressional Liaison for the nation’s U.S. Attorneys.
