K&L Gates Further Strengthens Investment Management Practice with New York Partner Addition

5 November 2015

New York - The New York office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Bruce MacLennan as a partner in the investment management, hedge funds and alternative investments practice. He joins K&L Gates from Holland & Knight LLP.

MacLennan counsels clients on complex international business transactions with a focus on the structuring and formation of private investment funds, including private equity, real estate, venture capital, and hedge funds, as well as unique investment vehicles. He also advises on investments in private funds and on related transactions such as private equity and venture investment deals, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and customized business partnerships ranging in size from $10 million to $2 billion.

“Bruce’s cross-border experience fits nicely with our expanding New York investment management practice and firm’s overall global capabilities in the space,” said John A. Bicks, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ New York office. “Through his many years of practice in Japan, Bruce has developed strong relationships with clients headquartered throughout Asia, who will be particularly well-served by the firm’s global platform.”

MacLennan is the sixth partner or of counsel addition — and second in the firm’s New York office — to K&L Gates’ investment management, hedge funds and alternative investments practice this year, following the earlier arrivals of Edward Dartley (New York), Richard Kerr and Kenneth Holston (Boston), Jacob Ghanty (London), and Michael Wong (Hong Kong). With lawyers in nearly two dozen of its offices around the world, K&L Gates’ investment management practice is one of the largest and most experienced such practices in the United States and globally.

K&L Gates comprises approximately 2,000 lawyers globally who practice in fully integrated offices located on five continents. The firm represents leading multinational corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals.
