K&L Gates Names 41 New Partners Across Global Platform

Pittsburgh - The partners of global law firm K&L Gates LLP have voted to elect the following lawyers from across the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East as new partners of the firm, effective March 1, 2020. More than 40 percent (17 out of 41) of the lawyers in this latest class are women.

Andreas Menge and Nils Neumann were named partners in the firm’s Berlin office. Menge advises companies on corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions and limited liability and stock corporation law, while Neumann counsels national and international companies on individual and collective employment law issues.

In Boston, Jon-Luc Dupuy, Luke Reid, and Robert Tammero have been named partners. A member of the firm’s asset management and investment funds group, Dupuy advises clients on a range of issues under the Investment Company Act, Investment Advisers Act, and Securities and Exchange Act. Reid focuses his practice on government investigations, criminal and civil litigation, maritime regulatory compliance, environmental enforcement defense, and international law, while Tammero represents companies on a range of corporate and transactional matters including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, and corporate governance.

Tara Sullivan has been named a partner in the commercial disputes group in Charleston, where she focuses her practice on financial institution and services, mass tort, product liability, automotive industry, and appellate litigation. Also see New York listing for Amy Ironmonger.

Leah Baucom is a new corporate partner in Charlotte. She advises public and private companies on matters including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, public and private divestitures, spin-offs, and joint ventures, among others.

In Chicago, Alexis Crawford Douglas and Katherine Staba have both been named partners. Douglas focuses her intellectual property practice on a variety of transactional and litigation matters related to trademarks, domain names, social media, and copyrights. Staba is a member of the firm’s technology transactions and data protection group, focusing on complex global transactions and counseling relating to digital media planning and buying, advertising and marketing, claim substantiation, software licensing, and intellectual property issues.

Jonathan Vance is a new finance partner in the firm’s Dallas office. He concentrates on the representation of agents and lenders in connection with syndicated and single lender asset based lending and oil and gas transactions and assists clients in connection with the analysis and preparation of derivatives documentation.

In Dubai, Joanna Klat has been named partner. Klat, who also practices from the firm’s Paris office, focuses on real estate matters including finance, investment, construction, insurance, town planning, real estate development, and commercial leases.

Thomas DeCesar and Tad Macfarlan are new partners in Harrisburg. DeCesar counsels on commercial litigation, contract disputes, tort and product liability claims, and constitutional issues, as well as transportation compliance, contracting, and transaction matters. Macfarlan advises energy, industrial, utility, and commercial sector clients on compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and land use laws.

Edmundo de la Fuente has been named partner in Houston, where he represents international energy clients on the development, construction, and financing of energy and infrastructure projects and the trading of commodities, as well as on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and divestitures. He also advises developers and investors on real estate acquisitions and dispositions, lease negotiations, easement and right of way negotiations, and project financing.

In London, Richard Dollimore has been named partner. Dollimore concentrates his corporate practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial transactions, and business start-ups.

In Melbourne, Emma Dawes and Hannah Jankiewicz have been named partners. Both members of the commercial litigation practice, Dawes represents hospitals, doctors, and community health and ambulance services in medical defense claims, professional indemnity, and general liability and insurance coverage matters, while Jankiewicz counsels on general and public liability, personal injury, and medical malpractice claims.

Andrea Campana is a new partner in Milan. Campana handles a range of complex litigation matters, including finance, directors’ liability, shareholder derivatives, securities and transactions, bankruptcy, e-commerce, real estate, construction, and general commercial and contractual disputes.

In Munich, Michael Kreft has been named partner. Kreft concentrates on structuring tax-efficient buyout and real estate transactions, as well as national and international fund structuring and reorganizations, including mergers, demergers, and holding structures.

Heather Horowitz and Amy Ironmonger are new partners in the firm’s New York office. Horowitz advises banks and other lenders on real estate financing matters including the acquisition, origination, disposition, and restructuring of mortgage and mezzanine loans. Ironmonger focuses on real estate development and financing, including international resort and hospitality projects as well as commercial development projects and related transactions.

In Orange County, Jason Dreibelbis and Brian Novak have been named partners. Dreibelbis counsels on mergers and acquisitions, public securities offerings, private equity and venture capital transactions, securities law compliance, and general corporate matters, while Novak advises on intellectual property matters such as due diligence, freedom to operate analysis, portfolio management, patent prosecution, and foreign filing strategies.

Katherine Gafner, Ragae Ghabrail, and David Osipovich have all been named partners in Pittsburgh. Gafner advises energy clients on litigation and appellate matters, government enforcement, real estate, crisis management, and oil and gas transactions. Ghabrail focuses his patent practice on post-grant proceedings, patent procurement, and strategic portfolio management, while Osipovich represents clients on high-stakes complex commercial disputes, as well as insurance recovery matters.

Brandy Sargent was named partner in the firm’s Portland office. A member of the restructuring and insolvency practice, she represents debtors, lenders, vendors, purchasers, and committees in a variety of commercial and agricultural bankruptcy, workout, and litigation matters.

In Raleigh, Leann Walsh has been named partner. Walsh is a member of the labor, employment and workplace safety and health care practices. She counsels domestic and international businesses and private equity firms on employee relations issues, conducts internal employment investigations, and defends employers in civil and administration employment litigation matters. Walsh also regularly advises clients regarding complex labor and employment issues relating to mergers and acquisitions.

In the firm’s Research Triangle Park office, John Lawrence, Steven Pine, and Leah Richardson have been named partners. All members of the health care practice, Lawrence counsels clients on government investigations and False Claims Act lawsuits, while Pine represents public and private academic medical centers, hospitals, and health systems on health law regulation and litigation matters. Richardson also advises clients on a variety of health law regulations along with Medicare Administrative Contractor pre-payment reviews and reimbursement.

Jas Dhillon and Jeremy McLaughlin are new partners in San Francisco. Dhillon focuses on advising startups and high technology clients in the United States, Europe, and Asia on intellectual property, product liability, and commercial matters across a variety of technologies, including lithium batteries and energy storage; electric vehicles and autonomous robotics; biochemistry; molecular and cell biology; industrial microbiology; and applied chemistry. McLaughlin advises on regulatory compliance and enforcement for fintech and consumer financial products and services such as emerging payments, payment systems, and prepaid products.

Jonathan Miner, Catherine Smith, Harold Storey, and Elizabeth Weiskopf have all been named partners in Seattle. Miner represents companies and investors in a variety of corporate, securities, and business transactions, including 1933 and 1934 Act Securities and Exchange Commission filings, securities offerings, and financings. Smith advises employers on labor and employment issues including employee terminations and performance management, disability accommodation, leaves of absence, hiring procedures, and wage and hour compliance, among others. Both members of the pharma and biopharma litigation practice, Storey counsels on disputes involving pharmaceutical patent matters arising under the Hatch-Waxman Act, while Weiskopf advises life sciences and technology clients on complex intellectual property litigation and enforcement matters.

In Shanghai, Chloe Duan has been named partner. Duan focuses her practice on investment management, private equity and venture capital investments, and mergers and acquisitions, also advising endowment funds and financial institutions on cross border investments, onshore and offshore fund formation, and other regulatory issues.  

In Sydney, Clive Cachia and Alex Smith are new partners. Cachia advises companies in the energy, infrastructure, and natural resources industries on corporate and securities matters such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and operating agreements, and investment arrangements, while Smith counsels clients in the real estate, retail, infrastructure, leisure, and automotive industries on restructuring and insolvency matters. 

Joseph Tseng has been named partner in the firm’s Taipei office. Tseng concentrates his practice on venture capital and private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, fintech, and general corporate matters.
