Chambers Names K&L Gates the Outstanding Firm for Furthering Women’s Advancement During Annual Women in Law Awards

3 June 2015
New York - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has been named the Outstanding Firm for Furthering Women’s Advancement (Recruitment, Retention and Promotion) in the Chambers Women in Law Awards, USA 2015. Now in its fourth year, the Chambers Women in Law Awards reflect the achievements and advancements of women in the legal profession and recognize firms and corporations that provide a work environment in which female lawyers can thrive.

Specifically, the award recognizes the work of K&L Gates’ firmwide Women in the Profession (WIP) Committee and its mission of helping women lawyers to advance in their careers, with a particular focus on business development and promotion as leaders and role models. This includes the launch of several key WIP initiatives such as K&L Gates’ Mastermind program, which focuses on the business development and entrepreneurship efforts of women, helping lawyers achieve success through peer mentoring and accountability; a gender-blind “Balanced Hours” program that enhances client service, lawyer productivity and retention by providing flexible schedule arrangements to meet the needs of lawyers and clients; and a host of workshops, seminars, and panels designed to develop business, enhance careers, and connect women lawyers in local communities.

“It is gratifying to see our strategic focus on promoting the careers of women at K&L Gates — and the tangible results we are achieving — recognized by an international organization such as Chambers,” said Janice Hartman, K&L Gates’ Global Development Partner and chair of the firmwide WIP Committee.

The awards were announced last night at The Harvard Club in New York City.

K&L Gates comprises more than 2,000 lawyers globally who practice in fully integrated offices located on five continents. The firm represents leading multinational corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals.
