Our Commitment to Diversity
Lauren Sandground

Lauren is an associate in K&L Gates’ Washington, DC office. As a member of the Insurance Recovery and Counseling group, she represents insurance policyholders in complex coverage disputes under product recall and contamination, directors & officers, representations and warranties, and other standard business and liability policies. Lauren has experience guiding her clients through negotiating, mediating, and litigating these disputes. She also counsels clients as to initial placement and renewal of insurance policies. Lauren often works with businesses in the food and beverage, hospitality, consumer goods, transportation, music and the arts, and non-profit industries.

In addition to her insurance work, Lauren has represented individuals and companies in the financial services industry before governmental and regulatory bodies. This includes the representation of broker-dealers and investment advisers in Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitrations, and individuals and public companies before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, state prosecutors, and stock exchanges.

Lauren is committed to pro bono, particularly in support of matters relating to asylum, refugee, and international law. She maintains a strong connection to her law school, the University of Virginia School of Law, by coaching the school’s Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court team. As a proud supporter of music and the arts, Lauren serves on the board of the non-profit, Network for Diversity in Concert Percussion, whose mission is to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive concert percussion community.

During law school, Lauren interned with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona and the Virginia Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Waynesboro, and was a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Public and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany. Lauren was a summer associate at K&L Gates in 2017. Prior to attending law school, she was a paralegal at her grandfather’s family law practice in Virginia.
