Luke Steinberger is an associate in the firm’s New York City office, where he focuses on intellectual property, maritime law, and all matters facing start-up clients. He represents clients in a wide range of industries, including advertising, social media, venture capital, shipping, and entertainment matters. While he began his career as a litigator, and continues to represent clients in state and federal courts as well as arbitrations, Mr. Steinberger increasingly assists clients in all aspects, including company formation and IP procurement.

Mr. Steinberger’s intellectual property practice involves strategic counseling, including the development and management of portfolios, sophisticated licensing and agreement work, and litigation. He has assisted start-up clients with initial procurement and has litigated copyright, false advertising, trademark and trade secret cases in federal courts, as well as UDRP disputes in arbitration.

Mr. Steinberger’s maritime practice encompasses a broad range of domestic and international matters, including charter party disputes, P&I and FD&D matters, insurance coverage disputes, and attachment and arrest proceedings. He also has experience in criminal matters, having assisted onboard investigations and related negotiations with the U.S. Coast Guard and Department of Justice to obtain a favorable settlement for the client.

Mr. Steinberger has also engaged in substantial pro bono work, including briefing and oral argument as lead counsel for clients seeking Special Juvenile Immigration Status and clients bringing Bivens claims against the government. He is also an active member of the firm’s Cyber Civil Rights Legal Program, and has published an article for the New York State Bar Association highlighting ways to use federal copyright law to protect online privacy.
