Meghan Flinn is an associate in the Investigations, Enforcement, and White Collar group in the Washington, D.C. office. She focuses her practice on the defense of companies and individuals involved in government investigations, regulatory enforcement actions, and litigation matters.

Ms. Flinn represents investment advisers, broker-dealers, individuals, banks, and other financial institutions before various state and federal regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”), the U.S. Department of Justice (“DOJ”), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”). Additionally, Ms. Flinn advises clients in connection with private litigation in federal court.

Her experience extends to investigations or litigation concerning, among other things, compliance and supervisory procedures, conflicts of interest, insider trading, corporate disclosure requirements, secondary liability under the federal securities laws, § 36(b) of the Investment Company Act of 1940, and the False Claims Act.

In addition, Ms. Flinn is involved in various pro bono matters at K&L Gates, including representing a client in federal habeas proceedings and assisting a nonprofit organization with an internal investigation. She is a member of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia and the Washington office’s Women in the Profession Committee.

Professional Background

Ms. Flinn was previously a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph R. Goodwin for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, where she assisted in managing the civil docket and the MDL docket that contained over 70,000 product liability actions. In addition, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Robert B. King for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Ms. Flinn was also a K&L Gates summer associate in 2013.
