Warsaw - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has established an office in Warsaw — the firm’s 36th location worldwide — with the addition of a team of lawyers from Hogan & Hartson LLP. The office in Poland’s financial and political capital is K&L Gates’ third international launch in 2010, following January openings in both Tokyo and Moscow.
“Warsaw is a strategic location for a global law firm, and we are delighted that this distinguished group of practitioners will found K&L Gates’ Warsaw office,” said K&L Gates Chairman and Global Managing Partner Peter J. Kalis. “Poland is a Top 20 global economy and one that has withstood the challenges of the global financial crisis. It is a nation focused on a mission of growth and prosperity, and K&L Gates is honored by this opportunity.”
With substantial experience both advising on some of the country’s largest foreign investments and working with the Polish government, the lawyers in K&L Gates’ Warsaw office will provide Polish and international clients with a broad range of transactional, advisory, and dispute resolution services. These include such areas as banking and finance, capital markets, corporate, mergers & acquisitions, public procurement/government contracts, tax, real estate and construction, intellectual property, dispute resolution, and labor and employment.
Martin Lane, K&L Gates’ Managing Partner, Europe, commented: “We are delighted that such a cohesive and highly regarded team will be establishing our Warsaw office in the heart of the Central and Eastern Europe region. Both the resilience and the growth prospects of the Polish economy make this an exciting place to be.”
“We are enthusiastic about the opportunity to join such a dynamically expanding global firm as K&L Gates,” stated Maciej Jamka, who will serve as Administrative Partner of K&L Gates’ Warsaw office. “Our clients in Poland will benefit from a truly diversified and dedicated service based on the in-depth knowledge of the local legal system, business culture, and political environment.”
K&L Gates includes lawyers practicing out of 36 offices located in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and represents numerous GLOBAL 500, FORTUNE 100, and FTSE 100 corporations, in addition to growth and middle market companies, entrepreneurs, capital market participants and public sector entities.
