Mr. Humphrey is one of Australia's leading corporate and private equity lawyers. He works closely with some of Australia's largest private equity investors, as well as advising on a broad range of complex corporate transactions. He focuses on partnering with institutions, blue chip corporates and private equity funds (and their portfolios), and is very experienced in negotiating large, complex acquisitions, divestments and investments, including structuring share sales, negotiating shareholder and subscription agreements and conducting due diligence investigations.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Humphrey led the M&A and Private Equity team at a national Australian law firm. Mr. Humphrey has worked in leading corporate groups throughout his distinguished career, including as head of private equity at a number of Australian national law firms, and also in the private equity group at Clifford Chance in London.

  • Author of the Australian Private Equity Handbook (CCH) and best-selling business books, including The Penguin Small Business Guide and The Penguin Business Startup Guide.
  • Co-wrote the Australian chapter of Getting the Deal Through – Corporate Governance 2013, a multi-jurisdictional guide to corporate governance in 35 countries, published in June, 2013.
