Oliver Marshall

Mr. Marshall is a lawyer in the Labour, Employment and Workplace Safety practice group. He has experience reviewing enterprise agreements, employment termination issues, compliance with the Australian Building and Construction Code, incident management and workplace discrimination law. Mr Marshall first joined K&L Gates as a paralegal in 2017 working in the Labour, Employment and Workplace Safety and Litigation teams.

Mr Marshall now joins the firm after completing a Masters of Law at the University of Hong Kong, specialising in intellectual property and IT law. As part of the course, Mr Marshall studied and wrote papers concerning Trademark violation and contemporary culture in China, protecting intellectual property in the artificial intelligence industry, Chinese competition law, freedom of speech and defamation on social media platforms, copyright and remix culture and patent law.

  • Assisting in the preparation of documents for use in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Circuit Court, Federal Court, Supreme Court of Western Australia, District Court of Western Australia and the Western Australian Magistrates Court.
  • Responding to claims brought against employers under federal discrimination legislation.

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr Marshall gained the following experience:
  • Providing advice and drafting GDPR compliant data protection documents, online privacy policies and inter-jurisdictional contracts for data supply and aggregation services.
  • Assisting in the drafting of construction contracts, preparing for construction related arbitrations and providing advice in relation to the Construction Contracts Act 2004 (WA).
