Phil Griffin is an associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, where he is a member of the investigations, enforcement, and white collar practice group.

Mr. Griffin’s practice focuses on the defense of public and private companies and their directors and officers in connection with complex civil litigation in state and federal court. He also represents investment advisers, investment companies, and other entities in enforcement actions before the Securities and Exchange Commission and other federal and state governmental agencies and regulators.

His experience extends to litigation and enforcement actions concerning, among other things, breaches of fiduciary duty, breaches of contract, insider trading, the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment, the False Claims Act, and other issues and matters arising under state and federal law.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Griffin worked as a legal intern for the U.S. Department of Justice and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. He also served as a first-year legal writing instructor, an appellate advocacy teaching assistant and a member of the Penn Criminal Law Research Group’s Delaware Criminal Law Recodification Project, in which he drafted major portions of a proposed recodified criminal code for the State of Delaware. Prior to law school, he worked as a compliance analyst for a global investment bank.

Mr. Griffin was a K&L Gates summer associate in 2015.
