Piotr Augustyniak is a partner in the firm's Warsaw office.  He has extensive experience in assisting local and foreign clients and multinational corporations in tax planning, in devising tax effective structures for their business, acquisitions, divestitures, and disposals of companies. Mr. Augustyniak particularly concentrates on international taxation, including tax planning with respect to international double taxation both for corporations and High Net Worth Individuals. He also has broad experience in advising on various tax and accounting issues, including tax litigation.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Augustyniak practiced at a Washington based international law firm, where he was responsible for all tax related issues of its Warsaw office. Before that he was a partner and head of the tax team at a highly regarded Polish law firm. Prior to that, he was an associate at a leading international law firm and respected sole practitioner.

Mr. Augustyniak has published numerous articles on tax as well as comments in professional journals on a variety of subjects. He also frequently comments on the current tax situation in Poland in television and radio interviews.

Mr. Augustyniak is a frequent speaker on tax law, criminal tax law, and accounting at both domestic and international conferences. He was a lecturer in tax law at the Warsaw Bar Association and also lectured in financial law at Warsaw University.
