Areas of Practice

Ms. Kent is a consultant in the Construction & Engineering group.  She has experience in a wide range of projects from commercial, transportation, heavy industrial through to process engineering.  Her work has involved advising on many UK and international disputes involving arbitration, litigation, mediation and an increasing number of adjudications.  Her practice has involved acting for employers, developers, contractors, subcontractors and professionals.

Representative Experience
  • Representing a signaling subcontractor against a main contractor in several adjudications on a multi-million pound claim arising out of work carried out on signaling and routework for Railtrack
  • Acting for a major high profile transport undertaking on a claim from a contractor arising from work carried out at an underground station in London
  • Acting for major contractor in relation to a dispute arising out of installation of cabling for major project in UK
  • Representing a sub-contractor against a main contractor in arbitration on its multi-million pound claim arising out of work carried out on a power station in Cumbria
  • Acting for sub-contractor in adjudication against contractor in relation to claims for variations arising out of work carried out at a large PFI hospital project
  • Acting for a main contractor in a multi-million pound arbitration with a cladding subcontractor concerning a prestigious residential development in London
  • Acting for a property developer in arbitration in relation to a claim for damages arising out of substantial structural defects
  • Defending a contractor in Part 8 proceedings challenging the validity of an adjudicator's award
  • Acting for employer in adjudication against quantity surveyors arising out of certification where contractor subsequently gone into liquidation
  • Acting for major contractor in relation to jurisdictional issues on several adjudications and in relation to disputes with sub-contractor
  • Acting for contractor in relation to counterclaim against receivers of sub-contractor in a hospital in Glasgow
  • Acting for a road surfacing contractor in dispute against contractor in relation to its claim for additional sums arising out of work carried  out on a section of the M25
  • Acting for sub-contractor in adjudication against employer in relation to claims arising out of piling work carried out at a substantial office block in Edinburgh
Ms. Kent also has experience of advising clients in the construction sector on all aspects of UK and EC Competition Law.

Professional Background

Linda joined K&L Gates as a partner in 1998. In 2003 she became a consultant for the firm. Prior to joining K&L Gates Linda was a partner at a large London law firm for over four years. Linda qualified as a lawyer in 1986 and was admitted as a solicitor in that same year.
