Matthew focuses on resolving construction and engineering disputes. He has acted for all principal parties in construction projects on many different disputes utilising many different forms of dispute resolution including litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation. He also has extensive experience of insurance matters relating to construction projects and advises employers, contractors and consultants on various forms of insurance.
He has experience in advising on PPP and PFI contracts including the bespoke dispute resolution procedures in such contracts.
Matthew has been an associate with the firm since 2000. Prior to this he was an assistant lawyer with a UK-based firm from 1995 to 2000. Mr. Smith qualified as a lawyer in 1995.
Matthew has published articles in journals on a range of matters in relation to health and safety legislation, with a particular emphasis on the construction industry.
