Areas of Practice

Ms. Tanner is a special counsel in the commercial disputes practice group.  She is involved in a broad range of commercial dispute resolution with a particular focus on banking, pensions and insolvency litigation.  Her experience includes claims arising from breach of contract, negligence, breach of trust, wrongful trading, misfeasance and she has experience of claims with an international element.

Representative Experience
  • Defending a bank against a claim alleging breach of trust and negligent misrepresentation
  • Defeating a substantial claim against a bank for recovery of the bank's fees for the provision of a £10 million facility
  • Acting for a bank to defeat a challenge to a personal guarantee
  • Claim against a bank for misuse of confidential information following the withdrawal of an offer of a £100 million loan facility
  • Defending a pension consultancy in relation to alleged negligent advice on transfer to a personal pension scheme 
  • Defending a pension consultancy in relation to alleged defects in a trust deed
  • Acting for a Liquidator on a claim against the former directors of a property development company for misfeasance and wrongful trading
  • Acting for a Liquidator against the former directors and professional advisers of an overseas company for misfeasance and breach of fiduciary duty
  • Multi-million pound claim brought by the Trustees of Wasps Football Club arising from the negligent under-valuation of their ground

Clare qualified as a lawyer in 1998 and joined the firm upon qualification.
