Areas of Practice

Martin is an associate involved in all areas of firm's Commercial Litigation group having qualified in September 2003 following a successful training contract with the firm.  Mr. King has a Postgraduate Certificate in Sports Law and is an active member of the firm’s cross-departmental Sports practice group.  He undertakes a wide range of dispute resolution work including international and domestic contractual disputes, commercial debt collection, protection of confidential information and regulatory and disciplinary proceedings, acting for a variety of clients in different industry sectors including sport, media and telecoms, gaming, banking and manufacturing.

Representative Experience
  • Advising a professional golf tournament administration company in relation to claims arising from a contractual relationship with the promoter of an international golf open;
  • Acting for an international software supplier in a jurisdictional dispute;
  • Advising a listed sports marketing company in various contractual disputes;
  • Acting for an online gaming business in a professional negligence claim against former advisers;
  • General advice to a national sports governing body in relation to claims from members; and
  • Advising a football club in relation to various contractual disputes.

Professional Background
Martin joined K&L Gates in 2001 and qualified as a lawyer in 2003.
