Areas of Practice

Mr. Rich has more than 40 years' experience in the areas of creditors' rights, restructurings and bankruptcy representing financially distressed companies and individual debtors, trustees, lenders, asset purchasers, landlords, creditors, and creditors' committees. He has extensive experience in corporate law and equipment leasing, including the sale of equipment lease portfolios and equipment leasing companies. He also has extensive experience in asset based lending, factoring and commercial finance and secured transactions. His legal experience also includes knowledge in intellectual property and licensing having represented magazine and book publishers. His practice includes litigation both in the bankruptcy courts as well as in the federal and state courts before judges, juries and arbitrators.

Professional Background
Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Rich was a partner in the forming of Winick & Rich, P.C. since 1978. Before forming his own firm, he was an associate in the Creditors’ Rights Department of a large New York law firm and a member of the legal department of James Talcott, Inc., a commercial finance lender and factor.  Mr. Rich has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. Rich wrote a chapter on Bankruptcy for “Equipment Leasing” and “Commercial Documentation Guide” published by Matthew Bender.  He also is an author of various articles and reviews for Uniform Commercial Code Law Journal, Equipment Leasing Guide, ELA Newsletter, Commercial Leasing Law and Strategy and other Newsletters.
