Areas of Practice

Mr. Simmons practices in the areas of commercial and general litigation, with a focus on insurance coverage issues.  He has participated in the fact development, discovery, settlement, and trial of complex matters involving sales contracts, product disputes, toxic torts, and environmental conditions in state and federal courts in California, Connecticut, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington.  In May 2006, he was one of the lead trial attorneys who obtained a $59.6 million jury verdict in a case involving product defects and sales warranties.  Mr. Simmons' experience also includes representing corporate policyholders in insurance disputes associated with mass tort claims.  In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Simmons has advised companies and individuals regarding their insurance portfolios, including property, liability, and directors and officers insurance programs. In that context, he has assisted his clients in designing and implementing strategies to maximize their existing insurance coverage and to improve their coverage during renewal negotiations.
