Areas of Practice
Mr. Schack is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses primarily on two areas: insurance coverage litigation and counseling for policyholders and real estate litigation. In the insurance area, Mr. Schack has recovered millions of dollars from insurance companies for businesses and individuals through negotiation and litigation. He has handled complex coverage disputes involving many types of insurance including commercial general liability, directors and officers, errors and omissions, employment practices liability, first-party property, fidelity/crime, motion picture and television liability, professional liability, business interruption, patent infringement, aviation, political risk and cyber risks. In the area of real estate, Mr. Schack has represented commercial property owners, developers, commercial landlords and tenants and others in a wide variety of real estate-related litigation. Mr. Schack has also handled a broad range of other business litigation, including breach of contract, business torts, securities litigation and products liability defense.
Professional Background
Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Schack was a partner in a large Los Angeles law firm, where he chaired the firm's insurance coverage practice group. Mr. Schack has served on the editorial board of James Publishing, a publisher of insurance texts. Mr. Schack has lectured regularly before professional groups on the subject of insurance and has been quoted on insurance issues in the Los Angeles Times, CBS Radio and numerous other publications. Mr. Schack was selected for inclusion in the Southern California Super Lawyers by Los Angeles Magazine in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.
