A partner in the Boston office of K&L Gates, Mr. Greco is a business litigator, appellate lawyer, arbitrator and mediator who has more than 35 years experience in complex business and other disputes throughout the United States and internationally, and in counseling business entities and individuals in external and internal investigations. Mr. Greco is former President of the American Bar Association (ABA) and led the 415,000-member organization during 2005-06.
Mr. Greco has represented clients in litigation and arbitrations, and has served as arbitrator in cases involving national and international financial and investment institutions, accounting firms, architects and engineers, insurers and insureds, intellectual property firms, professional consulting firms, contractors, real estate lenders and developers, airlines, corporations, and key executives in employment disputes and investigations.
In arbitration, Mr. Greco has served as sole arbitrator in a variety of disputes that include:
- a $95 million dispute between a superstar professional athlete and the manufacturer of sporting goods regarding rights/obligations under an exclusive endorsement contract;
- a $60 million dispute between an institutional investor in a pension fund and the general/limited partners of real estate projects;
- a $25 million dispute involving claims of accounting and manufacturing price fraud;
- a $14 million contract dispute between national consulting firms involving the global implementation of a software program;
- a multimillion dollar dispute alleging fraud in the purchase/sale of companies; and,
- a multimillion dollar dispute between a corporation and its former chief executive officer.
Mr. Greco has also served as chair of arbitration panels in a wide range of disputes that include:
- a multimillion dollar environmental dispute between a waste recycling facility and 75 cities and towns in a New England state;
- a multimillion dollar intellectual property dispute between a national manufacturer of computer software and a software developer regarding copyright and license rights;
- a multimillion dollar dispute involving contractual rights between a national health insurance organization and major hospitals and providers of health care;
- a multimillion dollar dispute involving alleged securities fraud;
- a dispute involving officer/director insurance coverage and bankruptcy issues; and,
- a multimillion dollar dispute between a national consulting firm and a national chain of apparel stores.
After law school Mr. Greco served as law clerk to the late Leonard P. Moore of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and as a Fellow at the Institute of Comparative Law, University of Florence, Italy. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2010 edition and in past editions of The Best Lawyers in America (Commercial Litigation), the New England Super Lawyers, and Who’s Who in American Law.

Mr. Greco has lectured and has authored or co-authored numerous articles on litigation techniques, alternative dispute resolution methods, international arbitration, employment law, professional malpractice and ethics, state and federal environmental laws, and insurance coverage.

Mr. Greco is a member of the American Law Institute. In addition to serving as president of the American Bar Association he has served as president of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the New England Bar Association, the New England Bar Foundation, and the Board of Trustees of Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc.
Mr. Greco also has served as vice-chair of the Board of Bar Overseers of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, and as member of the Board of Overseers of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, the Massachusetts Governor's Judicial Nominating Council, and the Commission on Federal Judicial Appointments. He is a member of the board of directors of the New England (Business) Council (NEC) and during 1998-2004 served as chair of NEC's ground breaking Creative Economy Initiative, a regional economic/cultural development effort designed to attract investment in New England's Creative Economy.
