Areas of Practice
Theodore J. (“Theo“) Angelis is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on cyber and technology law and intellectual property litigation with an additional emphasis on constitutional law and appellate matters. Theo represents clients in high profile litigation and provides counseling advice to clients regarding pending legislation and certain privacy statutes. He consults with clients regarding all types of cyberlaw issues and the use and misuse of intellectual property online. Topics of recent consultations and lawsuits include e–mail marketing, illegal spam, spyware, digital trespass, privacy for digital communications, and domain cybersquatting. Theo has also worked with federal, state, and international governmental agencies in the battle against spam and other internet misconduct. He has given presentations and speeches on the litigation challenges inherent in seeking to protect computer systems and intellectual property.

Theo is active in the bar and his community. He is the editor of the Washington Lawyer’s Practice Manual, a comprehensive reference work whose profits are used to fund the King County Bar Association’s Neighborhood Legal Clinics. Theo spends significant time on pro–bono matters. Recent pro–bono clients include the Washington State Bar Association, an asylum–seeker, and a homeless Seattle resident involved in an automobile accident. He is also extremely active in the Greek community in Seattle.

Professional Background

During law school, Theo was articles editor of the Yale Law Journal and managing editor of the Yale Law & Policy Review. He also worked extensively with noted law and policy scholars and authored an article examining the controversy surrounding investing the Social Security Trust Fund in the equities markets, which was published by the Brookings Institution and has been cited repeatedly in Congressional testimony. After law school, Theo clerked for the Hon. Stephen F. Williams at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, 1999-2000.
