Areas of Practice

Mr. Koning has extensive experience in trial and appellate practice, with emphasis on professional liability defense and matters related to legal ethics. He has handled a wide range of business disputes, including real estate, banking, partnership, probate, and contract matters.

Mr. Koning has also been trained as an attorney-mediator by the American Academy of Attorney-Mediators.

  • Defense of local and national law firms and attorneys in numerous multi-million dollar professional liability actions
  • Representation of lawyers, law firms, corporations and public agencies in connection with a wide variety of legal ethics and professional responsibility issues
  • Representation of lawyers in disciplinary proceedings
  • Representation of law firms and lawyers in connection with dissolution, withdrawal and other intra-firm issues and disputes
  • Defense of a real estate developer against a former business associate's allegation of partnership on a multi-million dollar project
  • Representation of beneficiaries seeking to disqualify fiduciaries for undue influence and conflicts of interest
  • Arbitrations of stock churning and unsuitability claims against national brokerage firms, in one instance resulting in an arbitration award of treble damages
  • Representation of a limited partner of a major league baseball franchise in a challenge to the general partner's attempts to amend the partnership agreement
  • Representation of the City of Arlington, Texas, in an investigation into allegations of corruption in its police force and municipal court system
  • Numerous appearances before the Texas Courts of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit
